What can I do with Artlas?
Discover paintings and their depicted places, explore a curated museum directory, build local trips and play a daily city-guessing challenge.
Where are my trips saved?
On this device or browser. There is no automatic synchronization. Settings has JSON export and import so you can back up or transfer your travel plans.
Does the museum have the painting on display?
Not necessarily. “In the collection of” describes the holding institution. We label display status unknown and link to official records for you to check before visiting.
Why are nearby results empty?
The first catalogue covers selected places in France, London and Venice, with a museum directory focused on Paris. Expand the radius, switch to museums, or choose another destination. Location permission is optional.
What if a painting or map is wrong?
Open the painting and choose “Report a correction.” Include what should be checked and a source if possible. The map also links to OpenStreetMap’s reporting tools.
How does Daily work?
Guess the depicted city in five attempts. Accents, case and common aliases are accepted. Editions change at midnight UTC. Our initial reviewed queue rotates, so paintings repeat.
Is it available on Android and iOS?
The Flutter app supports both platforms. Store releases are in preparation. Use the web app while distribution is finalized.
Accessibility
Artlas includes a list alternative to maps, labelled controls, readable text and keyboard navigation. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, tell us which screen and device you used.
